Keeping you ahead of the REACH* regulation

The SIN (Substitute It Now!) List is a comprehensive database of chemicals likely to be restricted or banned in the EU. It is publicly available, regularly updated and provided completely free of charge by non-profit organisation ChemSec.

The primary objectives of the SIN List are to:

  • support organisations in proactively identifying and substituting SVHCs**;
  • encourage the research and development of safer alternatives; and
  • speed up the identification of hazardous chemicals in the REACH* process.

Thousands of organisations around the world use the SIN List for different reasons:

  • Manufacturers and retail companies – to identify chemicals of concern and lead the way for innovation.
  • Investors and financial analysts – to ensure potential investment objects are not using or producing SVHCs that may soon be targeted by the regulation.
  • Government authorities and agencies – to identify SVHCs that need to be expedited through the regulatory processes.
  • Public and private procurement – as part of the procurement criteria for guaranteeing safer products and ensuring chemical compliance.
  • NGOs – to promote safer products and campaign for more stringent regulations.
